Local Areas

We are in the middle of a farm and its a quiet little oasis on top of a beautiful cotswold hill.  We make a brilliant base to explore from and escape back to, we don't have lots of green space to kick a football around but we think that's what makes us special. The Cotswolds gets quite busy in high season and there is so much to do so when you come back of an afternoon our play area is a great place for the kids (and you) to wind down whilst you get supper or relax with a good book! 

There is heaps of space in the village, Bourton-on-the-Water; its just a mile wander down the hill. There is the famous view of the centre with the river Windrush winding its way through our cotswold stone cottages, this goes past a fabulous bakery, plenty of pubs and cafes and a brilliant fish and chips too! I recommend taking a towel down as everyone loves a paddle in the river! We have a couple of play areas for children down there, a motor museum, model village, dragonfly maize maze and Birdland with a prehistoric dinosaur walk! There are also really lovely walks around the water meadows and lakes.

Alternatively if you jump in the car we have the National Trust at Sherborne Estate just a couple of miles away and an amazing local pub that I can’t recommend highly enough called The Fox at Barrington, it is about as quintessentially cotswold as you can get from the decor to the friendly landlord, the pub garden is perfect for children and there is nothing better than sitting by the side of the river in the sunshine with a nice cold glass (or two) of wine and the children happily running around. We do get busy around here though so I recommend pre booking anything you can just in case.
